Jar of Twine

I apologize for not blogging lately,  with work, school, and wedding planning the entire month of February was a blur to me. I decided this past weekend I would do a prototype of my centerpiece.  We are having a rustic vintage style wedding so burlap, mason jars, and lace are the 3 ingredients to the wedding of my dreams.

This next blog is for my Twine Mason Jar, which are part of the centerpiece for my upcoming wedding in September.

I was inspired by this:

however I didn't want the lace and the burlap. Since I am using a burlap runner and the burlap banners for a previous blog I didn't want to much burlap. I opted for just twine wrapped mason jars.

you will need:
*mason jar of any size, I went with the larger quart size
*Twine- I can not recall off hand the size, however it is located at Walmart in the Jewelry/craft Section
*Hot Glue Gun

You can start anywhere on the jar, I have seen some where people would cover the entire jar with twine. I just wanted the middle section covered since we will have candles and I want the light to reflect off of the glass. Take your glue gun and place a small amount on the glass, next attached the end of the twine and make sure its secure. TRY NOT TO GET BURNED.

The last step is to just simply wrap the twine around the jar. I would wrap a few times then push the twine down to make sure it covers the whole area and there were no that many gaps.

When you are finished wrapping you simply glue the end of the twine to the jar  with the glue gun like the start of the twine and that's it.

That's 1/4 of my center piece done. I'm getting there!

To have and to Pinterest

As you know, September of this year will change my life forever. I am marrying my best friend, the most AMAZING person that I know, and I am so FREAKING excited!
I have this strong feeling that I, like the other billion people in the world, drool over the cute little inspirations on pinterest every day. I am a certified pinterest drooler and creeper, even at work. ( I shouldn't but it calls me  by my full name on an hourly basis) However, while wiping my mouth I saw a cute little wedding decoration but didn't want to pay the HUGE price tag.

I thought to myself after much debating, I can make this or my own versions.  So this past saturday, after meeting with the baker, I decided it was time to get my glue gun  out and hope for the best.

I found everything that I needed at Joann Fabrics and used the 15% off coupon

*Burlap Garland- I bought two so I could have extra and I ended up only using half of 1 ( 30 feet per roll)
*Antique White Acrylic Paint
* Thin light natural color jute
*Angled foam pain brush
*Ruler Mat
*Printed letters (MS Word)
*Hot Glue Gun ( My Worst Enemy)

I decided I would make banners that says We Do, We Did, and Love Is Sweet. I measured and cut the burlap 6 inches long for each letter then laid the purlap on top of the printed letter and painted the copy on the burlap.

After repeating this process for what felt like 8 hours I have all of the letters painted and the heart done.

I let the letters dry for about 2-3 hours, while I watched tv and hung out with my cat for the afternoon.

After everything was dried completely I then flipped each letter over and hot glued the flap over leaving enough space for me to thread the jute through. ( I apologize,  by this time it was 9 at night and my STBH was home and watching a  movie that I felt I needed to watch to so I didnt take any pictures)

After the jute was threaded through  the loops I hung the sign up to look at my masterpiece.

This is not perfect however I think that is what makes this a perfect sign. its something that not only are we going to be able to have in our future home for years to come but is also something that we can say was made with love to show our love.

And she got an idea....

It will please everyone to know that I am not perfect. It will also please everyone that I do not try to be, although im sure about 50% of us try on a daily basis only to fail in a blaze of Glory. I would like to introduce myself, Jenn is my name and cooking, crafting, and couponing is my game. If you are reading this blog either

1. You stumbled upon this and feel sorry for me that you have even made it this far in the intro.
2. Like making fun of the Asian who tries to be crafty and is worse then a 2 year old using invisible crayons.

Whatever your reason is, Welcome!

I am everything to everyone, much like you are. Student, daughter, neice, friend, and soon to be wife.  My daily life consist of talking with my co-workers, studying for the current hardest test of my life, and spending time with my best friend ( and handsome soon to be husband)
I love to craft ( or try to), cook ( because I get to eat), and coupon ( for our honeymoon to Hawaii). I hope that this blog will serve as a welcome mat to your own ideas. I wish that you will be able to look at something and with your eagle eye for crafts see its full potential, with your Rachel Ray skills make the best and healthiest meals for your families, and save a buck or two.

So again, welcome and lets have fun on this new adventure....
